Introduction to the French Health Service
The French health service was elected number 1 in the world by the WHO in 2001. The same source says that France is the 3rd country in Europe (out of a total of 51) to dedicate a significant part of its GDP to health (10.6% in 2004).
Today, however, France faces a growing shortage of health professionals, particularly (freelance) GPs, and specialists. This tendency looks set to sharpen by 2025.
We are looking for staff doctors with the following specializations: anaesthetics and intensive care, cardiology, geriatrics, gastro-enterology, respiratory medicine, as well as general medicine or ‘family medicine’ and internal medicine. We are also seeking freelance doctors (GPs and with specialities such as cardiology or ophthalmology) prepared to settle in a rural area or to practise in a clinic in this status.
